Areas of Support

Career & Work

Our occupations often help define who we are and how we want to be perceived by others. When things at work aren’t going well – or are going so well that time is dominated by work – it can be disruptive and impact everything else in life. Having someone independent to talk to may help you cope with career pressure in preparation for changing roles, during decision‑making periods or once you have redefined your career path and are re‑establishing yourself.

Childhood & Adolescence

Working with children and young people is a specialist area of counselling. Our experienced integrative children and young people therapists, adapt sessions to meet the age and needs of the young people, using creative materials, books or objects to encourage expression. Therapy can help young people experiencing significant behaviour change, challenges with their emotions or anger management, and feelings of isolation or difficulty with friendships.

Grief & Loss

We all have significant people in our lives, and experiencing the death of someone we love can be devastating. Grief is unique to each of us. Try Talking therapy aims to be there as a companion through your personal experience of grief, helping you explore the relationship lost and rebuild your life under new circumstances.

Neuro-diversity

Acknowledging differences in brain function can be difficult, and it’s easy to feel isolated or misunderstood. Having someone independent to talk to can help you accept and understand your neuro‑diversity, support you through assessment and diagnosis, and enable you to communicate your needs to others    creating a positive enhancement to your career and relationships.

Relationships & Family

Whether we choose our relationships or are born into them, we all aspire to maintain a feeling of belonging and security. When things at home aren’t going well, it can be unsettling and impact careers, finances and other aspirations. Therapy can help individuals or couples cope with changing roles such as becoming parents, navigate decision‑making periods or re‑establish themselves once things have changed.

Retirement and Life Transitions

Having a job or a profession gives us a purpose that helps us feel valued and confident. Giving up that role – through retirement, redundancy or personal commitments – can impact our psychological health. Try Talking can help you prepare for retirement, support you during decision‑making periods or accompany you as you rebuild after you have retired.

Sports & E-Sports

Being a sports person requires dedication and sacrifice. At Try Talking, we consider this a specialist area and as such provide experienced therapists with sporting backgrounds to aid the comprehension of the competitive circumstances. If injury, work or other factors affect your commitment to sport and take it away from you, it can be hard to cope. We can help you prepare for transition, support you during a period of injury, or walk alongside you once you have stepped away. If you are involved in sport, we understand the pressures of competition and can provide independent and confidential support when competition affects your mental health.

Trauma

Whether recognised as trauma or abuse before the therapeutic process begins, clients who have experienced traumatic situations or abusive/coercive relationships can really benefit from the safety of working with a therapist to comprehend what has or is happening to them and take positive steps to both protect themselves from further harm and recover from their experience. Our therapists working within a trauma-informed approach are a great place to start.
